Aker Yards Marine is a leading designer of RO-RO Ferries in North America and provides capabilities that cover all types and sizes. For the North American market Aker Yards Marine has designed several vessels for the British Columbia Ferry Corporation ranging from an 80 vehicle, open-decked inter-island ferry to a 470 vehicle fully enclosed ferry designed to carry a large tractor-trailer load as well as passenger vehicles.
Other ferry designs include smaller coastal and inter-island ferries operating in Alaska and on the Maine coast, each of which is configured for ease of loading and with basic but functional passenger facilities. Again, the extensive experience of AYM’s parent company Aker Yards ASA in design and construction of large RO-RO ferries provides a database and knowledge that places. AYM at the forefront in the design of vessels of this type.
The vessel is one of the biggest cruise ferries in the Baltic Sea, having capacity for 2,800 passengers.
AYM and Transboréal of Quebec are developing a new ferry service with twelve different ports within Quebec and the Eastern Canadian region. The new service will operate 9 months of the year, with an anticipation of 25 voyages in year one. The vessel's passenger capacity is 1000, and vehicle capacity is 270 and 1050 lane metres with a range of 5,000 Nm at a speed of 19.0k nots. |
