STXM Develops Innovative High-Speed Ro-Ro Ship STXM has recently completed a preliminary design for a Ro-Ro Trailer Carrier for Roadships America a subsidiary of Roadships Australia and will soon be starting the contract design package. The 200m vessel will carry 150 semitrailers at speeds of over 30 knots.

The Roadships vessel is intended for operation in the US as part of an integrated logistics chain on coastal routes. This project has received considerable support from government and the private sector as a means to reduce traffic congestion on highways I95 and I5.

STXM’s commitment to innovative design is evidenced in our Research and Development work done in very high speed trimaran technology. This development is being done through STXM’s own investment and a cost shared grant from The Center for the Commercial Deployment of Transportation Technologies (CCDoTT). This ongoing work includes Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) methodology, hull configuration optimization, lines development, powering analysis, hydrodynamic model testing, and concept design development for 40, 50 and 60 knot ships.

The Very High Speed Trimaran Technology is being developed to support both commercial express transport and U.S. Government sealift ship requirements. This revolutionary platform incorporates a variety of features including increased payload and stability. Through innovation and new technology platforms, STXM is producing a vision for the future for commercial express cargo transport and military sealift ships.   

STXM is currently developing a concept for a low-motion semi-submersible offshore platform support vessel with large clear deck area suitable for a variety of modular loads and accomodation facilities.
